The NAMM Show 2019: Part 2
Native Instruments introduced some great new features to their flagship DJ software Traktor Pro 3 when it was released last year and now with the release of version 3.1, they introduce some great new additions that will certainly delight all avid users of this industry-standard software.
When the Kontrol S4mk3 was released we were promised the standalone mixer support by NI last year and Traktor 3.1 see this become a reality. The S4MK3 can now play external media players (CDJ Turntables) through its phono and line inputs and use the S4’s mixer without having a laptop connected. This is great news for anyone who wishes to incorporate turntables or CDJ’s into their setup or for DJ’s using DVS.
Another feature brought forward and one that Traktor users have been requesting for a very long time is parallel waveforms. This brings Traktor up to speed with other DJ software like Serato, Rekordbox and Virtual DJ that has become a standard in the digital DJ world. This is a very handy feature indeed and will help provide a more precise visual guide to beat-matching. Although this is only available the in horizontal view, it would have been nice to be able to toggle between horizontal and vertical view.
Traktor Pro 3 Upgrade From 2
Other helpful features include “Single Deck view” where Traktor will focus on one single deck useful for track preparation, “over-mapping” for the S8 and D2 controllers, and “tag writing mode” for non-destructive file handling.
